Overall a very good machine. It has a lot of flexibility for obtaining relatively consistent readings for one to two routine users and more users with more issues storing records for more than two.
Setup isn’t real difficult if written instructions in the manual are followed. Transferring the stored data in the 790IT to a computer for written tabulations and graphing a bit more than the novice computer user will be comfortable. It is probably worthwhile for obtaining and tracking daily records for you and the doctor’s analysis. I would advise using it to track blood pressures with changes to medications or adding medications to have a more accurate idea of how worthwhile or significant the changes to blood pressure are with changes to medication. The greater your blood pressure is and the more combinations of medications you are on the are greater the risks are for consequences from undertreatment as well as too little improvement for the potential complications that can and do occur with multiple kinds of medications.

I know…I did it. I had high BP and was on 20mg of enalpril twice a day. I drive a truck all over the country and must keep my BP at 140/90 to keep my job. I read the book and followed what the good Doc said to do and my BP is 119/78 as of 10/06/08 only 24 days after I got the book. By the way…I don’t take BP pills anymore. Thanks Dr. Colbert…I LOVE YOU!!! You definately gave my job security. I look forward to impressing the D.O.T. Doc’s with controlled BP without the pills hahahaha I love it!!!

If you want a general idea of what your blood pressure is than this product will be fine. However, my experience has been that the bp readings are pretty inconsistent, and I think the diastolic reading is high compared to the reading I get from my arm cuff.

I’ve read other reviews and felt I needed to add my 2 cents. I had open heart surgery 2 years ago. I purchased this wrist cuff monitor at least 6 months before that. I knew I was having trouble so I took this cuff with me everywhere. Sometimes I would check my heart rate 6 or more times a day. It was always very accurate. I would take it in to my appointments and it was always fun to test it against what the doctor got. It was always within 3 or 4 points of their readings. I really needed it for the heart rate more then the blood pressure. I had to make sure my rate was low. I’m just now looking to replace it. I’ve worn the poor thing out.
Having your BP read in the wrist is so much more comfortable and convenient.
I see there are less expensive cuffs offered here on Amazon.com but, I hesitate to try another one because of how well this cuff held up for me. I don’t know what would have caused the other customers to have bad luck with theirs. I say give this one a try, if it isn’t accurate (check it at your doctors a few times) then return it and try another brand.

I have tried to use this machine and get error messages…..called the service people and they said to make sure the cuff is snugly applied o the arm which means doing some special “gymnastics” of getting the end under the rest of the cuff which is sooooo cumbersome! and not always possible. I called the company angain and all I get was something that can be interpreted as “tough” ! Stilll looking for a good machine….BTW their wrist model has much lower readings than the arm model……..what to do?????

I just bought this after being worried that my resting heartrate was too fast. Turns out I am doing just fine. But with this unit I will take my blood pressure everyday and then look at my on screen graph after up to 30 days and see how it looks over time.
I was happily suprised at the quality of the unit. 4 simple buttons (any one of which will activate the appropriate feature from the off condition) make it easy to operate and figure out. It comes with batteries – a nice touch – and a study case with a clear cover. Here are three levels of help in the included documentation. A Get Started sheet, a FAQ fold out, and a thorough booklet (in 4 languages) with the important details.
On screen instructions help you through the process of actually getting your BP. You get systolic and diatolic (most only give you the former) as well as pulse readings. The on screen graph is unique to this unit and especially in this price range.
…
Bottom line: I am very happy with the purchase. The only other one I would purchase is the one at Wal-Mart that comes with a printer to give you a hard copy graph of your readings over time. But it costs $89.99 and gives you more components to worry about.

Bought this product because it was recommended by Consumer Reports.
So far it performed well and the readings were accurate. I like it when you
accidentally turn it off you can read back the result.
