it does everything else for you! This style of Blood Pressure Monitor is the style Consumer Reports recomends. It comes with everything (batteries, ac adaptor, carrying case) & at a great price! Similar products that I’ve priced elsewhere start at around $70. I have nothing negative to say about it. I have been quite pleased & would recomend this to anyone in the market.

I purchased the Omron HEM 650 wrist bP monitor for my 85 year old Mother-In-Law. She was experiencing a sudden large increase in blood pressure. Her doctor placed her on medication but requested that she take her own blood pressure three times a day. We immediately purchased her a good standard cuff type monitor. After just two days it was apparent that the readings that she was reporting were grossly inaccurate. She was physically unable to get the cuff placed and tightned on her upper arm. When she received the HEM 650 she was able to properly use the monitor on her very first try. The automatic positioner worked great. She placed the monitor correctly at heart level. She recorded the readings and when she went to the doctor in two weeks his office readings matched her recorded readings with great accuracy. This is a high quality monitor that is very accurate. I recommend it for anyone whose dexterity would limit them from properly positioning and tighting a standard cuff.

I got this WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor device via Publishers Clearing House (PCH). PCH is that company that does those contests where people are suppose to win lots of money but at the same time they are really trying to sell you magazine subscriptions by sending you their junk mail with those magazine stamp stickers that you have to lick and stick onto the entry form. PCH is now also doing the same thing by selling products instead of magazine subscriptions in their junk mail. Anyways, they had a stamp sticker for this WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor device. You had to tear the stamp sticker off of a printed half sheet info page for the device, lick the stamp, and paste the stamp onto the PCH entry form. I don’t know if I won the latest PCH contest, but I wanted to buy this WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor device which they were selling for something like $20-$30 dollars plus S&H. You pay something like $6.99 a month or pay the whole thing in full (I paid the whole amount when they sent me the bill with the device). Looked like a good buy. And looking at the Amazon price here for $20-something dollars plus S&H, it looks like that I got a comparable price with PCH but the Amazon price here is cheaper. I’ve had this WrisTech device for several months now. The device is from the North American Healthcare company with the actual device being made in China. WrisTech is apparently a brandname for their product.
Anyways, this WrisTech device is easy to use, but you have to do it correctly. The first time when I put this thing on my wrist, I put it on like a watch facing upwards near the back of the hand. Of course, that was all wrong because I didn’t read the instructions. I read the instructions after getting the wrong frightening blood pressure reading. You have to turn your open palm upwards and put the WrisTech device on that way. You press the lower right button to turn it on, wait a moment, and press that button again to start taking the reading. It pumps up around your wrist and then counts down until you get the reading. You have to rest your elbow on a table and have your hand/wrist/device be at the same level as your heart. I rest my elbow on my free hand on the table and watch the WrisTech do its thing. You have to get two AAA batteries for this thing. I find the battery cover to be a little difficult to take off. Batteries are suppose to last six months if you take your blood pressure once a day. Of course, the batteries may last longer if you don’t measure your blood pressure that often. I would say to get name-brand alkaline batteries like Duracell if you want the batteries to last a long time. Oh, after you use this device to take a reading, it will automatically turn off after 60 seconds.
Now, doctors and nurses will tell you that these wrist blood pressure devices are inaccurate. I was told that when I went to a doctor’s appointment, but they told me to go ahead and use the device to see how it works out over time. I think the problem with erroneous readings is because consumers may not be using these wrist devices correctly – namely resting your elbow on a table and having the device be at the same level as your heart. Also, you have to stay still, relax, not talk when the device is doing its thing. I remember reading somewhere that you have to wait a half hour after eating before taking a measurement with this type of device. Anyways, the retail box, that this WrisTech device came in, said that this device has “Clinical Accuracy.” So, use the device correctly and I think you should get readings that are comparable to what you get at the doctor’s office.
Of course, you have to go with what your doctor/nurse finds as your “official” blood pressure readings using their blood pressure devices where you roll up your sleeve and they put that pressure band around your arm above the elbow. You can buy the same type of device that doctors/nurses use, but the wrist-type devices are cheaper and easier to use. However, the catch is using the device properly and comparing your results with what the “official” readings that you get when you go to your doctor’s appointment. What is nice about this WrisTech device is that it can save the last 60 readings. And so you can compare your personal readings as well as with what you get at the doctor’s office. Thanks for reading.

I decided to purchase the Omron HEM-775 Blood Pressure Monitor after reviewing this product on-line at both Amazon.com and the Omron web-site. First of all Omron is rated the highest for making B.P. Monitors that are of high quality, are accurate in their measurements, and are feature laden. After reading the reviews about this product and seeing its design and having all of the nice features that I wanted, I decided to purchase it. I have not been disappointed with it either after receiving it and putting it into use. It has certainly lived up to my expectations. If their was only one negative I could say about it, it is the fact that it is certainly not a compact unit if you needed to have a unit to use while traveling. But then I new that before I purchased it, and that just isn’t that big a deal. Thank you Omron for producing such a fine product. And thank you Amazon.com for also distributing it at such a very reasonable price.

Works great. Easy storage for keeping the Cuff, Self adjusting cuff which makes it more easy to use. Cuff is not that big! So had to ordered Extra Big cuff from www.panasonic.com website which cost me 19$ with shipping and taxes. Screen looks great and Color display with larger digits and which makes it easy to read. Overall a nice product and would recommend it to everyone.

I purchased the BP Monitor 6/12 and it arrived 6/18, shipping is fast and ordering is great. I tested the BP Monitor out as soon as i got home from my medical school, it works perfectly and there are no glitches the reading is acurate and setting the time, day and date with year and alarm is easy. the numbers are large enough to read without glkasses.
i am impressed with this unit so now i don’t have to go to the drugstore to get a BP reading when i have to go to pick up allergy medicine, ect.
the cuff is large for arms 14.2 to 17.7, medium is for arms 9.2 to 14.2.
i normally would get a medium, but the large cuff fits good even if it overlaps a little. I might have to get the Medium cuff.
if i could i wood rate this a 10 pkus 100% approved by a med student
i highly recommend the Life Source Blood Pressure Moniter: model UA-853LAC

I have had great luck with this monitor. It is durable, I have had it for at least 5 years. It also is accurate as I have taken it to the Dr.’s office and compared results. I have “White Coat Syndrome” where my pressure is higher at the office. For this reason I bought this little monitor so I could measure my blood pressure at home. It is very handy!
